What’s your boring superpower?
Everyone would love to be crazy athletic, or wildly intelligent. Sure, being able to run 26 miles while reading The Lord of the Rings in Latin would be really cool, what’s the benefit?
Boring superpowers, however, are not something we would necessarily willingly sign up for – but have the potential to make an impact anyway.
My ability to be boringly consistent in a few things definitely comes in handy as a non-flashy superpower. I’ve written about the redundancy of leadership several times before, but today I want to explore a slightly different angle on the repetition.
Last week I talked about thinking about the people who have poured into our lives and had an impact on us, but it doesn’t stop there. Because we all have people around us, who are in a similar life stage, who become an encouragement to us.
So today, consider the people around you who are building you up and supporting you? Better yet, who are the people around you, in a similar spot, whom you are supporting and encouraging?
I strongly believe there are people who will benefit from your boring superpower. There are peers who need your presence in life. They need your encouragement, your experience, and your insight. And you need theirs.
So, today, who are the people around you benefitting from you? And who are the people around you pouring into you?
Learn to be intentional with these relationships as they help you go further in life than you can go alone.
